Following her interest in social activism (as a teenager Alëna was an active volunteer), in 2012 Alëna enters one of the oldest universities in Russia —
Saint Petersburg State University, Faculty of Sociology. Here, in addition to her studies, she gains new experiences by immersing herself in the culture of a big city: architecture, museums, theaters, exhibitions, creative spaces, art, dance, and music. At some point in Saint Petersburg, she become involved in the underground rave scene, and electronic sounds have been guiding her through life ever since.
Even though Saint Petersburg seems to be the most free Russian city, during her last year (2016) of studying there, Alëna realises that she needs to open new horizons. Just after defending her Bachelor’s Thesis in Sociology, she goes to San Francisco for about half a year. Here, she encounters American, Californian, and San Francisco culture of freedom, her own summer of love.
The whole experience of living abroad, and particularly in San Francisco, not only opens new horizons for Alëna but transforms her entire consciousness and image of the world. It becomes a life-changing experience, and as a result, Alëna realizes that she doesn’t see how to continue her path in Russia and that she wants to come back to her artistic roots and try herself in design.
In 2017, Alëna starts studying Communication Design at the
University of Europe for Applied Sciences and moves to Berlin. After defending her second thesis in Communication design, in 2021 Alëna graduates with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
In 2021, Alëna starts dedicating more time to what she truly loves and begins painting her original ideas. In Berlin, Alëna immerses herself in the city's culture and discovers a different approach and attitude to freedom. Here, she dives into understanding and learning, finding and creating herself.
