ARTIFACT ARTIST
AAMATERRA
Aamaterra’s birth name is Alëna (Rus: Алёна [Alyona]), which means “shining” or “sunlight”. Alëna was born on the 7th of October, 1994, in a family of two loving souls — an architect and an engineer — in the small town of Kingisepp, which is situated by the river Luga, close to the Baltic Sea, Finnish Gulf. During her childhood summers, Alëna often spent time with her relatives in Vologda and the surrounding villages, where she explored traditional village life.

Alëna was very creative and talented from a young age. In addition to attending regular school (where she received excellent grades and finished in 2012 with a gold medal — the highest grade), she attended various educational institutions and creative associations.
She studied singing in the choir, folk dances and performances; additional English; art history, painting, sculpture, graphics, and composition at the Children's Art School; and the art of journalism, video editing, and video production at the Children's Television Studio. The students' videos from the studio were broadcast on the local town channel, YamTV.
Alëna was an active participant in volunteer organizations from a young age. First, she joined MAKR (Youth Active of the Kingisepp District), and then Choice. Volunteers from these organizations organized events for the entire city, such as a youth festival of subcultures, where different subcultures of that time were presented, including skaters, bmxers, roller skaters, cosplayers, reconstructors, and others. Alëna also participated in organizing other town events, such as holidays, memory shares, collecting donations for the needs of orphanages, holidays in orphanages, helping retirees, and more. A significant portion of her volunteer work was dedicated to town improvement, such as gardening/landscaping, maintaining cleanliness in memory places, and participation in the youth council of the town. As one of the most active volunteers in these organizations, Alëna was granted several times with the ticket and education in the Center of the most active volunteers of the whole Leningrad region (Kingisepp is one of the towns of this region). Here, as one of the parts, she was educated and trained as a volunteer of the Dance4Life organization. The goal of the organization is to decrease the prevalence of three of the biggest sexual health threats young people face today: HIV, unwanted pregnancies, and sexual and gender-based violence.
Furthermore, Alëna participated and won numerous art competitions. For example, she won the Art Olympiad in Kingisepp and was granted the ticket and art education in the Center for talented children in Lisiy Nos, Leningrad region.

Besides that, Alëna was active in the local cosplay community. In 2009, she went to her first Cosplay Festival in Saint Petersburg and fell in love with the beautiful world of cosplay, vivid people, and fascinating costumes. But most of all, she felt attached to the Japanese street fashion, especially gothic&lolita. She immediately decided to participate as a performer at the next festival. From the very first festival, she won prizes with the costumes she designed herself. She asked her mother to teach her how to sew, and this is where her relationship with the sewing machine and fabrics began — a skill and hobby that Alëna continues to develop until now when designing and making her own clothes.
When it came time to choose her future, Alëna decided to follow her path of social activism and in 2012 entered one of the best and oldest universities in Russia — Saint Petersburg State University, Faculty of Sociology. Here, she gained new experiences by immersing herself in the culture of a big city: architecture, museums, theatres, exhibitions, creative spaces, art, dance, and music. At some point in Saint Petersburg, she became involved in the underground rave scene, and electronic sounds have been leading her through life ever since.
She also continued voluntary work, such as helping to care for dogs in the Dog Shelter Ilyinka.

Moreover, Alëna was interested in business and attended different kinds of educational events, lectures, and programs dedicated to it. One such program was a business game “Creative. Initiative. Business.” by ITMO University. In 2014 together with Alisa Verbina and Elvira Antoshina, Alëna developed an idea and business plan and won the top prize.

During her last year (2016) of studying at Saint Petersburg State University, Alëna realizes that she needs to open new horizons. She applies and gets accepted to participate in the Work&Travel USA program. Just after she defends her Bachelor’s Thesis in Sociology, she goes to San Francisco to work at Boudin Bakery, situated at Pier 39 on the San Francisco Bay. Here, she experiences American, Californian, and San Francisco culture of freedom.
The whole experience of living abroad, and particularly in San Francisco, not only opens new horizons for Alëna but transforms her entire consciousness and image of the world. It becomes a life-changing experience, and as a result, Alëna realizes that she doesn’t see how to continue her path in Russia and that she wants to come back to her artistic roots and try herself in design.

In 2017, Alëna starts studying Communication Design at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Berlin. Besides the standard Communication Design program, Alëna takes additional classes in illustration, photography, and game design departments.
Furthermore, during her studies at UE Berlin, Alëna becomes an active member of ASTA, a student organization where she helps in the organization of student events such as festivals, parties, meetings, open discussions, etc., and maintaining communication between students and the university administration. One of such events was the creative festival Tippit.

During her studies in UE Germany, in 2019, Alëna also gets an internship at Valuer magazine, where she works as an assistant to Marco Kokkot, the editor-in-chief of the magazine. During her internship, Alëna discovers the world of Berlin fashion, attending such events as Berlin Fashion Week and German Press Days. As press, she also attends many other events and places around Berlin, where she explores the insides of Berlin life and meets the people behind it all. For example, she attends IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung), Friedrichstadt Palast, Zig Zag jazz club, catacombs of the Tempelhof Airport, Stage Bluemax Theater, and much more.
After defending her second thesis titled “Eco-branding in the time of post-truth” in 2021, Alëna graduates from the UE Germany with a Bachelor of Arts degree. For a while after that, she works as a freelance designer. You can see her design portfolio here. But bit by bit, she understands that her artistic and creative side is still calling to her.
At this point, it’s worth mentioning Alëna’s collaboration with DJ and music producer Viktor NÁum. Viktor and Alëna are partners in art, as well as in life. Together, they have created many things. For example, the music track “Lein” was written by NÁum and dedicated to Alëna (back then, her artistic name was Aliena Lein). In turn, Alëna created the visuals for that track.
In 2021, Alëna starts dedicating more time to what she truly loves and begins painting her original ideas. In Berlin, Alëna immerses herself in the city's culture and discovers a different approach and attitude to freedom. Here, she dives into understanding and learning, finding and creating herself.

However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Alëna realizes that Berlin has become too stuffy and cramped for her, and she desperately needs to connect with nature. So, in May 2022, she moves to the suburbs of Berlin into a house where she gets her own studio space. Moreover, she designs the interior of the entire house, creating a space that she really enjoys being in. Here, Alëna also starts dedicating more time to her body and inner feelings. SUP boarding is her favorite sport. Besides that, although Alëna has been doing yoga since her teenage years, she now practices it regularly every day. This boosts her creativity even further, and she begins to wake up and understand who she is and what she is doing.

Finally, during the New Year’s Eve celebration in 2023, she wakes up fully and takes on another name. Now, she is Aamaterra — Artifact Artist.
Artifacts are the art objects that conduct and accumulate the Energy. Artifacts become doors to the other dimension. You can access them through meditation. In general, while interacting with the Artifacts, you can connect to your Source, refill your Energy, strengthen and elevate your Spirit, and feel your Power. You can open your eyes, find your mission, restore peace, harmony, happiness, and fulfillment, heal, and become a fully awake human being. In addition, there are more specific Artifacts which contain a unique type of Energy that Aamaterra imbued into it through her willpower. Moreover, by gathering Artifacts in one place, Aamaterra creates a safe space for the protected connection to the inner world. Aamaterra's mission is to guide Humanity towards a higher state of consciousness and awaken their true potential.
